A once in a lifetime blast through Southern Europe taking in some of the continent's most amazing sights and finest driving experiences.

The final route is discussed in more detail here. The basic idea is we'll take a ferry/tunnel over to Calais or Dunkirk, drive around Europe in a large loop, and take the Bilbao ferry back from Spain.

The Roads and Drives

Here are some of the driving destinations we'd like to take in along the way:

• • Grand Prix circuit at Reims
  • Stelvio Pass:
    The road which was named by Top Gear as "greatest driving road in the world".
  • Col De Turini:
    A winding mountain pass which forms part of the Monte Carlo Grand Prix
  • The French Mediterranean Coast
  • The Millau Viaduct:
    The tallest bridge in the world. It spans the valley of the river Tarn near Millau in southern France.

    Made famous in the Bond movie, Goldeneye, this is a 220m drop down the side of a dam

Day-by-Day

The plan is to meet on the evening of Tuesday 23rd August in Calais, ending up in Bilbao on Tuesday 30th - or optionally going on to the La Tomatina in Valencia on Wednesday 31st. You can see a breakdown of each day on the Trip Europa forum.
